Here at Pugbitz we’ve been looking after cars for many years. That’s one of the reasons why we’re the best, because our engineers have got decades worth of experience and expertise to call on. It doesn’t mean we’re stuck in the past however, as a quick visit to our depot in Denton will confirm.
We use the latest computer diagnostics and, together with our newly opened bodywork centre, this allows us to offer a completely cutting edge service. Combine this with a commitment to customer service and to always offering the best possible price and you have the best garage in Manchester.
One of the advances we’ve seen over the year has been the rise of in-car advance warning systems, in the form of car warning lights. There was a time when the first thing you knew about a fault with your car was when it ground to a halt, or smoke started pouring out from under the bonnet. Nowadays, your dashboard is packed with car warning lights and indicators which flash and blink as soon as a problem is beginning to develop. We specialise in Peugeots and the following are just a few of the car warning lights you need to keep a careful eye out for:
Parking Brake or Brake Fluid Warning Light
Description: A red exclamation mark in a red circle.
This is a light which will normally light up whenever the handbrake is being applied. If it stays lit as you release the handbrake but have your foot pressed on the brake pedal, then it means that there isn’t enough brake fluid in the system. You should immediately get the fluid level topped up and, if the car warning light keeps coming on, have your car checked for a leak.
ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) Warning Light
Description: The letters ABS in yellow inside a yellow circle.
If this car warning light comes on it means that a fault has developed with your car’s anti-lock braking system (ABS). Although your brakes will still work, the wheel may lock dangerously when you have to brake sharply.
Airbag Fault Dashboard Light
Description: A yellow figure wearing a seatbelt with a round circle in front of them.
This car warning light will come on when you start the engine as your car runs a test on the airbag system. If it stays lit, then it means that a fault has been spotted within the airbag or the seat belts.
Stop Dashboard Warning Light
Description: The word ‘STOP’ in bright red capital letters.
The message of a car warning light consisting of the word ‘STOP’ may seem fairly clear, but do you know why and how urgent it is? If this car warning light comes on then it probably indicates a problem with the engine oil pressure or the temperature of the engine coolant. If you drive on either case you could damage the components of your engine. Stop as soon as it is safe to do so, and get in touch with a Peugeot technician like the experts at Pugbitz.
Engine Auto Diagnosis System Warning Lights
Description: The outline shape of a car engine.
If this light comes on in yellow then it indicates that the car’s emission control system has developed a fault. If it begins to flash, then there’s a chance that your car’s catalytic converter may be at risk of damage. If a yellow exclamation mark appears within the symbol then a minor engine fault has been detected and you should have your Peugeot looked at. If the symbol turns red and a red exclamation mark appears, then stop the engine as soon as it is safe to do so, as a major fault has been detected and if you carry on driving you could cause severe damage to the engine.
The car warning lights on the dashboard of your Peugeot are an incredibly useful early warning system, but the vast majority of problems need to be checked and rectified by a qualified mechanic. If any of the car warning lights listed above have lit up on your dashboard then contact us today or come along to our Denton depot, and we’ll work hard to get to the bottom of the problem and sort it out. Even though we are not a main dealer we have over 150 years of expert main dealer experience.
